Five vehicles were involved in a major crash on the A14 in west Suffolk this evening - causing two people to be injured and delays for other drivers during evening rush hour.

Suffolk police were called to reports of a collision in the eastbound carriageway at Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds, at around 5.20pm.

A police spokesman said two people were injured – though neither were thought to be in a serious condition – and “quite a lot of disturbance”.

The vehicles involved were a black Mazda, grey Ford, blue Peugeot and red Vauxhall. A brown Land Rover was also reported to have been involved, but police said this had not been confirmed.

A police spokesman said that despite the number of vehicles, the road was able to reopen relatively quickly.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bury St Edmunds and Elmswell called to assist on the scene of the accident.
