The blaze, which covered a large area of land, broke out near the railway embankment by St Augustine's roundabout at about 2.25pm today. It soon spread to the land near Sainsbury's in Warren Heath.

Firefighters from Colchester Road and Princes Street tackled the blaze, which was out by 3.40pm.

There are also four crews currently attending a fire in Metfield, near Halesworth. Three acres of stubble are alight but due to strong winds, crews are finding it difficult to tackle.
