Five sixth formers at Kesgrave High School have been awarded prestigious Arkwright scholarships marking them out as future stars in the architecture industry.
Aiden Ward, Alex Heeney, Andrew Kernan and Oliver Gledhill, all 17, and 16-year-old Joseph Hodge were awarded the scholarships after a rigorous process involving applications and interviews which required them to demonstrate a high level of engineering and architectural knowledge.
Now the five have been sponsored by leading engineering companies including the Royal Air Force and Rolls Royce among others, and have exclusive access to university days, top software and other industry opportunities and work experience – with the school now having more scholarships than any other in East Anglia.
Tom Corker, head of design and technology at the school, said: “They get financial funding over the next two years, challenge weeks, engineering days at universities and a whole host of benefits for them, and for the school it’s great kudos too.”
