A DARING action-girl is today preparing to plunge 2,000 feet from an aeroplane all alone after just a single day's training.

Annaliese Woodger, of Deben Way, Felixstowe, is hoping to do the parachute jump on May 18 after an intensive training course the day before.

The courageous 16-year-old said: "I am very excited and nervous at the same time.

"What worries me the most is actually jumping out of the plane and the first few seconds after that. Landing is not so scary."

She is expecting to plummet for around five minutes to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

Her worried mother, Ann, said: "I don't really want her to do it. But once she saw the advertising poster at school the idea was in her head, it is difficult to stop her.

"She is a very fit and lovely natured young lady who loves a challenge."

Meanwhile her dad, Ian, is shocked that she is taking up the challenge as she used to be such a nervous girl.

"Ever since sixth form I've come out of my shell and now do things I wouldn't have tried before.

"All my friends at Felixstowe Sixth Form think that I am crazy, but that the stunt is typical of my character," Miss Woodger added.

The athletic teenager tries to do something every year to raise money for charity.

Last year she took part in a swimathon and plans to run the London Marathon next year.

Her training involves visits to the gym, playing badminton and 17 mile runs. As her route takes her through marshes on the way to Levington her trainers have to be put in the washing machine every week.

One year she convinced her mum to do the Ipswich to Felixstowe and return bike ride. Although she had the latest bike, her mother had to struggle on an old one with just three gears.
