A SEARCH operation was launched in the river Stour at Mistley after reports a flare had been fired.
The Harwich inshore lifeboat and coastguards from Holbrook and Walton were called to the river about 6.25pm yesterday after reports an orange flare had been seen.
The area was searched but nothing untoward was found and the search operation was stood down.
The flare is believed to have originated from inland.
