Teams will be going head to head to mark Pancake Day next week with a charity fun run fundraiser.

Flip It for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) will see teams of four competing against each other in relay races, with the fastest two to face off in a grand final.

A trophy will then be presented to the fastest pancake flippers.

There will also be prizes for the best dressed team and the team that raises the most sponsorship money.

The pancake run will take place on the Cornhill in Ipswich on Monday from noon to 2.30pm – and teams can sign up now.

Victoria Matthews, EACH Suffolk corporate fundraiser, said: “We can’t wait to host our inaugural pancake run and are looking very much forward to what promises to be a tasty celebration of Shrove Tuesday.

“Pancakes will be flying through the air as our teams make their way around the course and we encourage everyone to come along and get involved.”

Entry is £50 per team.

Pancakes will be made by Town and Tea and the cafe will also offer extra refreshments for hungry competitors and spectators.

The money raised will help EACH to continue providing care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and their families.

Miss Matthews added: “Backing from the business community is invaluable as it enables us to continue providing our vital services, including short-break care, end-of-life care and bereavement support, to children, young people and their families.” Volunteers are also needed to marshal, offer refreshments, collect money and sign teams in.
