MOTORISTS driving to Great Yarmouth are being asked to only travel if their journey is essential after heavy rainfall has caused havoc in the town and surrounding areas.

MOTORISTS driving to Great Yarmouth are being asked to only travel if their journey is essential after heavy rainfall has caused havoc in the town and surrounding areas.

Nine schools have been closed today while extra police officers have been drafted in to cope with the flooding.

A police spokesman said: “Our advice is not to come to Great Yarmouth unless absolutely necessary. We would also ask drivers to drive slowly.”
