THE A14 is currently closed near Newmarket due to flooding.

FLOODS have today swamped many roads in Suffolk as motorists struggle to get home.

One lane on the westbound carriageway at Risby, near Newmarket, is currently closed due to flooding, thought to be a result of flood water from the fields.

The B1456 from Chelmondiston to Shotley is also flooded, engulfed in more than two feet of water in parts.

The Snape Road towards Leiston is flooded, including Judith Avenue and The Fitches in Knodishall.

The B1456 and the Snape Road are still thought to be passable with care but Suffolk Police are advising people to avoid these roads if possible.
