Plans to convert the former Hollywood nightclub building on Princes Street in Ipswich into a new business centre have been unanimously approved by Ipswich Council planners.

The Victorian building – originally Paul’s Maltings – is set to be converted into eight office suites of varying sizes.

It is a listed building, and members of the borough’s planning and development committee unanimously approved the application to convert the building which is expected to be a popular site for firms because of its proximity to car parks and the railway station.

Senior councillor Colin Kreidewolf said: “This is an excellent example of the public and private sectors working together to bring a heritage asset back into use. Our property and planning teams have been closely involved throughout and I look forward to this scheme enhancing the Princes Street corridor as a key gateway from the railway station to the town centre.”
