IT'S enough to make your hair curl!

Hairaisers salon in Ipswich lived up to its name when staff accidentally charged a woman nearly £2,500 for a cut and blow dry.

Now salon owner Maurice Cordy-Ramsey is desperate to trace the mystery customer – known only as Donna – who swept out of the salon without realising she had signed a credit card slip for thousands of pounds.

"I'm desperate to find her – before her husband does," said Maurice, who has run the business on Carr Street for three years.

"I tried everything I could to correct the error but the message didn't get through and now she has been billed for £2444.99 and it should have cost £24.99."

Maurice was rushed off his feet the day the fateful error occurred and after finishing the woman's hair he asked one of his staff to deal with the bill.

He spotted the mistake about two hours later and immediately called her credit card company, asking them to trim a cool £2,420 off the bill.

"They said it was all done and don't worry - and I actually saw Donna walking past the window not long after. I rushed out and told her what had happened and she laughed and said that she always knew I was expensive."

It wasn't until Friday >, when Maurice received a break down of every transaction to go through the shop till in the past few weeks that he realised the error had not been rectified and his client had been billed for the original amount.

"I need to find her to tell her that I'm not this terrible guy who lies. She's a regular customer and I have known her for about three or four years but I don't know her surname and I don't know how to get in touch with her."

And the frantic salon owner can also see the funny side of the tricky situation.

"It's hilarious in one way. Nicky Clarke the top hairdresser in the world charges £300 for a cut, my price was nearly eight times that," he said.
