FOUR people have been charged with conspiracy to steal after an investigation by Suffolk police into more than 100 incidents committed in three counties.

The four - three 17-year-old boys from Ipswich and 22-year-old Paul Stevenson from Wellington Street in the town - plus a fifth man who has been reported for the same offence - are all due to appear in court in Ipswich on December 17.

The charge relates to in excess of 180 crimes, including burglaries of homes, sheds and businesses and thefts of and thefts from motor vehicles, which have taken place over the past year.

The list includes crimes committed in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex, and covers more than 60 incidents in the Suffolk Coastal District and 35 in Ipswich.

Among the most serious of raids was a burglary in Melton in April where four trucks and £12,000 of property including a bolt gun were stolen.
