Four men jailed for drug plot

FOUR men have been sentenced to a total of 56 years imprisonment after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle drugs through Suffolk.

Colombian Jorge Gomez, 30, of Camden in London, and three Indonesian crew members of the mv Nedlloyd Clement – Yayang Mardianus, 45, Isitiyarto Iskandar, 37, and Richard Bernardus, 27 – were jailed for 14 years each after a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

Colombian Jorge Gomez, 30, of Camden in London, and three Indonesian crew members of the mv Nedlloyd Clement – Yayang Mardianus, 45, Isitiyarto Iskandar, 37, and Richard Bernardus, 27 – were jailed for 14 years each after a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

They were found guilty by a jury after denying a charge of attempting to import £900,000-worth of cocaine through Felixstowe.

The jury failed to reach a verdict in the case of a fifth man, Colombian Xavier Bermudez-Botero.
