Organisers behind Framlingham’s annual SausageFest have said they are expecting a record number of visitors to the event tomorrow.

The festivities will start at 10am with an opening ceremony led by “Sausage King” Stephen Plume and Miss Teen Suffolk Emma Collingridge.

A total of 13 sausages will be available for tasting, with guests tasked with voting for the best winter sizzler and best gluten-free banger.

The festival will also feature a farmyard grotto, live entertainment, a number of workshops including pizza making, and the return of the sausage trail.

There will also be new venues at Esmes House, EASTutition and Simpson’s Sweet Shop and new market stalls in Castle Meadow, Market Hill, Unitarian Meeting House, John Grose and United Free Church Hall. Minibuses will be available to transport guests between venues.

Last year’s winners, Mills & Sons, will be returning along with competitors such as Jimmy’s Farm, E W Revett & Son’s, Five Winds Farm, Creasey’s, Emmerdale Farm Shop and Taste of Suffolk.

Last year, the festival made its first profit and

donated £1,500 to local good causes, with more than 5,000 people passing through the gates.

Jenny Stockman, of the Framlingham Business Association which organises the event, said: “We are expecting a record turnout. It’s the only sausage festival I know that is still mainly about the sausages. You pay your ticket price and you get to try lots of sausages. It’s good for the whole family.”

Tickets cost £5 or £16 for a family ticket, with under 5s free.
