An Ipswich care home is offering free Christmas Day dinners for people aged over 65 and living on their own.

Kelvin Freeland, head of care at The Willows Care Home in Crabbe Street, said no-one should spend Christmas Day alone and urged people to spread awareness of the festive invitation.

There are around 25 places left for the free, three-course home-cooked dinner. Transportation will also be offered for free. The dinner runs from 12noon-2pm.

Mr Freeland said: “No-one should be alone at Christmas, but a lot of people are unfortunately.

“So if you or someone you know is aged over 65 and will be alone, then we would like to offer the chance for you to come down and have a three-course meal with us for free.

“We have three people already booked, and they are really grateful.”

To book a place, either for yourself or for someone else, please call 01473 372166 and ask for Kelvin, Ryan, or Nicole.

The Willows Care Home reopened last month.
