A charity is hosting free drop-in sports and crafts sessions in Ipswich to help parents struggling due to weather-related school closures.

Inspire Suffolk put on the event at its sports dome in Lindbergh Road on March 1 and around 10 young people attended.

The charity is planning to do the same again on March 2 for children aged five to 12 from 9am to 3.30pm if schools shut.

Youngsters must bring a packed lunch with them and be signed in by a parent or guardian.

Terry Baxter, chief executive at Inspire Suffolk, said: “We hope our Inspire Suffolk drop-in club will ease the pressure which the snow is putting on the community through school closures and parents trying to find last minute arrangements.

“As a local charity and service to the community, we are putting on a day of fun of sports for free at our Ipswich sports venue with our trained sports coaches and look forward to a great day.”
