SOCIALISING with Posh and Becks in sun-soaked Los Angeles is a far cry from performing with the Co-op Juniors.

But the wife of LA Galaxy boss and former Ipswich Town defender Frank Yallop will soon be hob-knobbing with the Beckhams when the renowned couple move stateside.

Ipswich woman Karen Yallop, nee Haste, once a Co-op Junior starlet, often entertains for The Galaxy's players and children - meaning the Beckham clan will be on the guest list when David joins up with his new 'soccer' team in the summer.

Kerry Sayer, Co-op Juniors choreographer, was part of the much-loved company at the same time as Mrs Yallop.

She contacted The Evening Star after spotting a picture in the paper's Memory Frame section of herself and Mrs Yallop with the Juniors, taken in 1985.

She said: “The photo featured the Co-op Juniors rehearsing for the Christmas pantomime which was Tom Thumb and The Giant.

“I was in the photo on the bottom row, first on the left, and I remember all the girls in the picture. In fact, three of us have daughters in the group today.

“Karen and Frank have two sons, Jack and Sam, who are of similar ages to the Beckhams' children and Karen has said that she entertains for the players' families and will therefore be inviting David, Victoria and the children round to her house.

“As Karen was a Co-op Junior for many years before she moved away, we have kept in touch over the years and she regularly comes home to visit her family and friends in Ipswich.

“I'm sure everyone who knows Karen and Frank will be delighted about their association with the world's most famous couple!”

Former England skipper Beckham will become the world's highest paid sports star when he joins LA Galaxy, pocketing a rumoured £128million over five years, which equates to around £500,000 a week.

The 31-year-old, his former Spice Girl wife Victoria and their three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, will leave Spain at the end of Real Madrid's season when his contract expires.

Speaking after the news of Beckham's shock transfer broke, Galaxy boss Yallop said: “It's wonderful news for us, and we are really happy to have David joining us.

“He has proved himself over the years, and it will be wonderful to have him - and to be able to manage and coach him will be a dream come true for me.”
