FROM the floodlights of Portman Road to the spotlight of the Big Brother camera, an Ipswich Town legend may today be entering one of Britain's most notorious houses.

But even Jason Cundy himself will be waiting until the last moments to find out if he'll be joining other famous faces to take part in Celebrity Big Brother 2007 when it airs for the first time tonight.

The 36-year-old has been tipped to enter the house with his wife, Lizzie, 36, but yesterday he admitted to The Evening Star he was still unsure if he needed to pack his bags and prepare to have his every move watched.

Jason said: “I still don't know as we speak if I'm going in.

“I'm just waiting now though I know it seems strange that I don't know - even my mates don't all believe me when I say that.

“I have spoken to them (the organisers) but they want Liz to go in too and I didn't think that was a particularly good idea.”

But the dad-of-two, who is fondly remembered by Blues fans for always running around the pitch clapping supporters after games, admitted that he was still hoping he might be taking part in the popular reality show.

He said: “I'm kind of a freelancer now so I can take the time off if I need too.

“Though they haven't even told me if they will tell me at all.”

And he also added that he couldn't be sure that he would be raising money for Cancer Campaign Suffolk, the charity he set up after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was Town's captain in 1997, if he did go into the house and submit himself to a series of bizarre tasks to win the public vote.

He added: “I haven't talked about money at all with anyone.”

If he does enter the house Jason may also be joined by one of Suffolk's most famous sons; former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins, who recently left the band and has been tipped to take part in the contest.
