Despite being moved indoors due to the bad weather, today’s Gainsborough Community Fun Day, which was originally due to take place on July 15, attracted scores of people from the area.

Sam Murray, who helped organise the event, said: “We have had this horrendous tragedy happen in the community - this event really felt like something positive.

“Despite the weather, it was a fantastic day.

“We were thinking what could we do to improve things and make a difference, what can we do to bring people together.

“It was definitely needed for the community.

“To see everyone interacting with each other, it feels like a step in the right direction to repairing some of the damage.”
