YOUNGSTERS from three special needs schools enjoyed a football funday at Portman Road, arranged by TXU Energi, the main sponsor of the Ipswich Town Football Club Community Project.

More than 40 children from Belstead and Thomas Wolsey schools in Ipswich, and the Priory, Bury St Edmunds, attended the TXU Energi Funday, which offered them the chance to try out a range of fun football challenges.

The activities included giant football, a penalty shoot-out, a five-a-side game and face painting! The event was staged on the practice pitch at Portman Road.

Mike Thompson, sponsorship manager, TXU Energi said: "We are delighted to have supported this event and we look forward to offering similar events for the local community in the future."

The event was a huge success, and no-one left Portman Road empty handed, with each child receiving a special TXU Energi goody bag!

Carolyn Friend, education liaison officer for the project said: "It was wonderful to be able to offer a fun football afternoon for local special schools. The smiles were just brilliant."
