A FELIXSTOWE fundraiser is today thanking family and friends for their support after completing her first ever London Marathon and raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Jacky Causon, of Melford Way, finished the gruelling course in 5hrs 45mins and 28secs, raising more than 2,200 for Sense, the UK's largest organisation offering support to deafblind people and their families.

The 57-year-old said she could not have completed the distance without the support of her husband, Roger, 59, their three children, Paul, 33, Michelle, 30 and Chris, 25 and Chris's girlfriend Holly.

“What an absolutely amazing experience,” she said. “I had a truly brilliant day. The support from the crowds along the route was unbelievable.

“My husband had a cheering route planned for the family around the course and they were superb. They said they couldn't believe that the smile never left my face from start to finish.

“The support from all of them really played a part in making my day so memorable and encouraging me to complete the challenge.

“Running along The Mall and under the finish banner and then collecting that medal was something I will never forget.

“It made all the long training runs Roger and I did in the cold from December to March worthwhile. I think even the bus drivers between Ipswich and Felixstowe began to recognise us.”
