CALLING all street entertainers and charity fund-raisers.

It is almost that time of year again when the Cliff Lane Traders put on their next street fair and it could be an opportunity to show off your skills or raise money for your cause.

The 11th Cliff Lane Street Fair is planned for Wednesday December 12 and it looks set to be yet another brilliant occasion for fun and for fund-raising.

On July 4, the summer fair raised a super £600 which is being split between the Evening Star's SARS Appeal for the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service and Holywells High School.

Thousands of people from the Cliff Lane community and further afield went along to enjoy the entertainment, buy from the charity stalls and just have a good time.

This is a unique biannual event where a parade of shop keepers say thank you to their customers in this way plus raising money for Ipswich charities and good causes at the same time.

The Christmas Street Fair looks like being yet another rip-roaring occasion with some acts already booked, including a mini production from the Springfield Follies.

Fair champion George Debman said other seasonal entertainment is being earmarked for the event and he was keen to attract even more.

He said: "We are always on the look-out for something different and so if there is anyone interested in taking part perhaps they would get in touch with either me or any of the other Cliff Lane shop keepers."

The proceeds for the December 12 event – from 6pm until 8.30pm – will be split between the Evening Star's Christmas Appeal and the Ipswich branch of the Salvation Army.

So if you would like to take part in either providing the entertainment or by setting up a charity stall, please contact either Mr Debman on 01473 251686, Cliff Lane Post Office on 01473 253183 or Deja Vu Antiques and Collectables on 01473 233622.

n The traders are also looking ahead to next summer when two events are being planned.

On June 4, the Queen's Golden Jubilee will be celebrated in grand style and then the following month the 12th Traders Street Fair will be held.
