THE funeral of a popular and long-serving firefighter takes place in Stowmarket this afternoon.
Ken Simpson died earlier this month after suffering a heart attack and his funeral is set for later today at St Peter and St Mary's Church in Stowmarket.
He had been a firefighter based at Wattisham Airfield for more than 34 years and many of his colleagues will join friends and family at his funeral before heading through the town to the Violet Hill Road Cemetery.
