SINGER Gabrielle is to perform in Ipswich, it was announced today.

The performer is expected to sell out Ipswich's Regent Theatre on February 21 next year.

Hazel Clover, regent manager, said: “Gabrielle last performed to sell out crowds back in 2004. We are thrilled to be welcoming her back to the Regent as part of our spring 2008 programme.

“Gabrielle is an extremely popular star with a huge talent.”

The singer's debut single Dreams topped the UK charts back in June 1993.

Using a sample from Bob Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Rise became Gabrielle's second UK number one in 2000. The album of the same name also reached the top spot and spent 87 weeks in the charts.

Other notable singles include Give Me A Little More Time, Walk on By, If You Ever - a duet with East 17 and Out of Reach from the soundtrack to Bridget Jones's Diary.

In 2007 she released a new single, Why, which she performed on The National Lottery show in September.

Tickets are £27.50 and available from the Regent box office on 01473 433100.
