A CHILDREN'S charity, which has helped Terri Calvesbert will benefit from a gala concert in Ipswich.

All proceeds from this year's concert at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, will go to the Burned Children's Club, which supports young burn survivors and their families.

Admiral Sir Alan West, First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, will attend the performance by the band, chapel choir and orchestra of the Royal Hospital School and the Holbrook Choral Society, which is due to take place at 7.30pm on February 28.

The Burned Children's Club organises “burn camps” for children aged between eight and 18 where they can go canoeing, climbing and practise arts and crafts.

The club also gives emotional support, helping children of all ages to come to terms with their altered body image, to share their experiences and to realise their potential.

For the past five years, The Evening Star has run an appeal for Ipswich schoolgirl Terri Calvesbert who suffered nearly 90 per cent burns in 1998.

Since the appeal was launched, following an accidental fire at her home in Chantry, more than £100,000 has been raised to help Terri and her dedicated father Paul.
