EXCITEMENT is building for this year's grand Foxhall Stadium Gala Night.

The annual event is this year set to be bigger and better than ever with an expanded fireworks display and a world record stunt attempt to wow the crowds.

The November 5 event, sponsored by The Evening Star has become an annual pilgrimage for race fans and fireworks fans alike.

Last year a record crowd converged on the stadium to get a glimpse of the Banger racing action and one of the biggest fireworks displays ever held there.

This year fireworks worth £5,000 are set to explode out of the stadium.

There will also be the mayhem of the Rookie Banger Brigade to provide whacky racing entertainment and crash after bash from the National Big Banger Fraternity.

After last year's exploding caravan stunt, which involved a Robin Reliant being driven through eight exploding caravans, Spedeworth will be attempting another world record stunt.

The 2005 Gala Night will be a fundraiser for the East Anglian Ambulance Trust. Funds will be raised through sponsorship from local firms and on the night itself.

Companies can sponsor one of the night's races by paying up to £200 to buy a race. Sponsors are provided with free entry, a trophy to present to the winner of their race and entry to the VIP lounge.

For guests on the night there will be a free carousel accepting donations for the air ambulance and free glow bands.

The first event will be a flaming torch light procession around the track at 6pm. The procession will be lead by a Caribbean steel band.

Torches will be given away free to anyone who brings along the special vouchers in The Evening Star which will be printed in the lead-up to the event. The stadium gates will open from 5pm.

Entry on the night is £12 for adults, £6 for children and £30 for family tickets for two adults and up to three children. Tickets are on sale before the event at £11 for adults, £5.50 for children and pensioners and £30 for families.

They can be purchased from Foxhall Stadium, Foxhall Heath or through the Spedeworth office by calling 01728 638489

Businesses keen to sponsor a race on the night should contact co-ordinator Tonya Hill on 01728 638 489.
