AWESTRUCK pupils were given a shock today when a mystery music star visited their school.

Duncan James, former singer with boy band Blue, entered an assembly at Copleston High School to deafening screams and a standing ovation.

The teen heart-throb was a surprise judge as part of a TV talent show to find the musical stars of the future.

Copleston have made it through to the final 10 in the Sky TV reality programme called School Musical.

The winning school will perform a musical in the West End for one night only later this year.

Jodie Ewen, drama teacher, said: “Going through to the final would mean the world to the kids because they have put in so much hard work. The children were so excited.”

Mr James congratulated the school for reaching the third round in the competition and was due to take part in workshops with the children throughout the day.

Feedback from Mr James will be a deciding factor in the school's progress to the final stages where the schools will take part in a sing off in London.
