A SOFA was deliberately set alight in the town centre, police have said.
A fire crew from Princes Street was called to tackle the blaze in Little Gipping Street, Ipswich, at 3.30pm today.
Police were also contacted by concerned members of the public who spotted the fire and an officer was sent to the scene to make sure the area was safe.
Flames had taken hold of one of the pieces of furniture which appeared to have been dumped on a grass area next to a house. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the flames and were back at base by 3.45pm.
