Hundreds of runners have run round Felixstowe in one of the region’s few 10mile road races.

Josh Entwistle won the Coastal 10, which attracted 350 runners this morning, in a time of 57.10.

Runners of all abilities and ages started the race near Felixstowe Leisure Centre at 9.15am.

Race director from organisers Felixstowe Road Runners, Andy Gordon, said: “It went really well, we had really nice weather and the race was fully booked.”

When asked about the race’s popularity, he said: “I think it’s just the fact you get to run from river to river along the seafront and there are lovely views of Felixstowe.”

The event is in its third year and was started after the Felixstowe Half Marathon was cancelled in 2011.

The course took competitors along the promenade, near the estuary of the Orwell before doubling back on itself, past Felixstowe Pier.

Heading along the coast to Felixstowe Ferry, at the estuary of the Deben, the route went back on itself for a sprint finish near the leisure centre.

Second man to finish was Ipswich Jaffa Adam Wade, third male was Robert Reason for Harwich. For the ladies, Helen Davies was first, running for Ipswich Jaffa, second was Odette Robson for Saint Edmund Pacers.
