More than 700 cyclists took part in a bike ride across the Suffolk countryside on Saturday.

Riders had the option of taking on 55km, 100km or 100miles routes in the Crafted Classique sportive, which started at Ipswich’s Waterfront.

At last year’s inaugural event, 500 cyclists took part. The event is sponsored by digital marketing agency Crafted.

Tom Gillman, commercial director at Crafted, who took part in the bike ride, said: “It was great to be back with another fantastic Crafted Classique this year.

“We had 700 riders take part, making the sportive even bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event. What a nice way to spend a Saturday, out cycling in the sunshine through our beautiful county.”

Riders began the day with a coffee and bacon roll at Cult Café on the Waterfront. When they returned, they were rewarded with a locally-sourced Calvors beer and a hog roast.

The event comes ahead of the mass participation Sky Ride in Ipswich today.
