IN this week’s review of the photos that made the headlines we have a very special wedding day and a charity hair cut.
After years of pain and operations due to rheumatoid arthritis the new Mrs Alice Harrison was overjoyed to marry her “rock” Ryan, while one of seven-year-old Brooke Lawrance many dreams has come true as she rode a horse unaided.
Comic Relief hit on Friday and staff and patients at Parry and Gilmour, in Yarmouth Road, Melton, near Woodbridge, held a 48-hour Red Nose Day Bike Challenge on exercise bikes while other charities also benefited with Lucy Warren, of Ipswich, cutting her hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real-hair wigs for children with cancer. East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices did particularly well as a group of youngsters studying at Otley College raised more than £1,000 and Ipswich mayor Mary Blake presented the cheque for £4,333 to the charity.
As well as this good news the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), FCC Environment and Suffolk County Council have teamed up to provide workers at the county’s household waste recycling centres with life-saving defibrillators and training.
Staff at the Legal and General insurance offices in Ipswich collected sackfuls of unwanted soft toys for the Guide Dogs charity to help raise cash and provide some of the guide dogs-in -training with new toys.
Meanwhile Crufts hopeful Barley narrowly missed out on becoming the winner of the first ever crossbreed-specific event.
Young people who go to 4’RCE Training, a new school for students who have emotional and social behavioural problems, had a great time as they attended a breakfast club.

A group of students from Ranelagh school worked with primary school children to help transform their allotment in London Road.
Schools and libraries around the county have been continuing the spirit of World Book Day, by dressing up and swapping stories.
Sidegate Lane Nursing Home took delivery of 12 eggs as part of a Living Eggs Experience. The eggs came to the home a few days from hatching and were kept in an incubator where the residents were delighted to watch them hatch and then get the chance to handle the newborn chicks.
Hundreds of people turned out to watch a student production of a Broadway show as students at Suffolk One performed Guys and Dolls.
A group of 20 employees from Stowmarket-based PPG Industries were wishing each other good luck and pledged to support each other as they tried to kick their habit for life on Wednesday’s No Smoking Day.
