A damaged pilot boat was taken by road through Suffolk today ready to be repaired by experts in Great Yarmouth.

The Harwich Haven Authoirty pilot boat, which was being stored on hardstanding at Shotley Marina, had sustained damage to the bow.

Abbey Transport took the boat by low loader along the A137, onto the A12 and up the A12 to Great Yarmouth where it is due to undergo repair.

The boat left Shotley Marina late this morning and travelled, under escort north.

Police yesterday warned drivers that they should expect delays as the wide load made its way north to Burgh Castle, which is close to the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth.
