A TEENAGE boy has been attacked in Felixstowe by a gang of men who tried to steal his mobile phone – the latest in a series of incidents this summer.

Police said today that they were not linking the assaults and robberies, but are concerned at the spate of incidents in recent weeks and are appealing for any witnesses who may have information to come forward.

What is more surprising to officers is that mobile phones are still the target of thieves when the equipment is virtually worthless as the number can be barred and the phone made useless easily and quickly thanks to latest technology.

In the latest incident, a gang attempted to rob a 15 year old boy in Holland Road, near the seafront, on Monday .

The teenager was walking home around 9pm when he was forced to the ground by three males who demanded he hand over his mobile phone.

A car then went past and the three males ran off towards the seafront. Nothing was stolen.

All three attackers are believed to be white, with one described as being a teenager, about 5ft 9ins tall and of skinny build, wearing a black hooded top, blue jeans and white trainers with a blue Nike tick on them.

Police are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle who scared off the gang and anyone else who may have been in the area at the time. People should call Felixstowe police on 01473 613500.

Last month a 17-year-old youth was beaten up by two men who leapt out of a car and attacked him as he walked home from a night out in Felixstowe.

The teenager was walking along St Andrews Road at around 3.10am when he noticed a car driving past him at some speed. The vehicle turned off into Queens Road and stopped. Two men aged 18-19 years old and wearing hooded tops got out and assaulted him, before driving off.

The teenager suffered injuries to his face and back but did not receive hospital treatment.

In July, two white youths attacked a 20-year-old man in Garrison Lane car park and stole his cash, cards and mobile phone.

One youth was about 15 to 16 years old, 5ft 6in tall, and wearing a dark coloured T-shirt, black trousers with three stripes down the sides and a white baseball cap, while the other was about 5ft 8in tall, and wearing a white T-short and black trousers.

Also in July, there was an attack in Manning Road when a man had several personal items stolen, including jewellery.
