Ganges gets green light

THERE were tears and tantrums at Shotley Village Hall today as plans to build 325 home on the former HMS Ganges site were given the go ahead.

Councillors voted nine to three in favour of Haylink's proposals to redevelop the former naval training site in Shotley.

THERE were tears and tantrums at Shotley Village Hall today as plans to build 325 home on the former HMS Ganges site were given the go ahead.

Councillors voted nine to three in favour of Haylink's proposals to redevelop the former naval training site in Shotley.

The decision must now be referred to the secretary of state as it is contrary to Babergh's local plan.

Campaigners have vowed to continue in their battle against the development.
