BLOOMING marvellous flower displays will greet visitors to a Suffolk garden centre as they throw open their doors for a primrose festival in aid of charity.

Bypass Nurseries in Capel will be handing over a donation to Macmillan Cancer Relief for every primrose they sell during the festival from this Saturday, February 16 to February 24.

Visitors can view green houses not normally open to the public and craft stalls will be set up on weekends.

Garden centre manager Tessa Reeves said that the charity festival, now in its fourth year, was always a colourful event.

"We do a lot of breeding here so we always get new varieties coming in. Everything looks very colourful."

Volunteers from the Macmillan Cancer Relief Ipswich committee will be on hand to tell shoppers all about the work of the charity. They will also be selling second hand adult and children books and charity merchandise.

Committee chairwoman Gail Morgans said that all the money raised would go towards the care of cancer patients and their families in Suffolk.

"We rely solely on fundraising and donations from wills or legacies so it's brilliant that Bypass is putting in the effort for us."

Bypass Nurseries is open from 9am to 5pm weekdays and Saturdays and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
