A GAS leak in a Suffolk town today forced residents to stay indoors behind closed doors and windows.

Workers in Mount Road, Bury St Edmunds, are believed to have caused the incident when accidentally breaking through the main gas pipe at 11.

Workers in Mount Road, Bury St Edmunds, are believed to have caused the leak when accidentally breaking through a mains gas pipe at 11.20am. Police were called who advised people to stay inside.
