Seth Gerome Wilson, 20, from Ipswich, was charged last night by police with the unlawful and malicious wounding of Jeremy Bice with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
It followed an incident in Shepherd's Drive, Ipswich, on Saturday in which Mr Bice, 29, suffered serious injuries.
A Suffolk police spokesman said Wilson had been charged last night and was due to appear before magistrates in Ipswich today.
