You get used to seeing fillets of cod, whole trout, or even a side of salmon on sale at Ipswich market – but last week something even bigger was causing quite a stir on the fish stall.
This huge King Red Snapper was caught off the coast of Mexico before being exported to Britain where it was bought from a wholesaler by Mike Young, from the market’s fish stall.
Rather than cut it up he managed to find someone who wanted to buy the whole fish.
“It’s unusual to see anything as big as this up for sale – but we had a lady customer who bought the whole thing so long as we filleted it for her. But it was quite a talking point on the market,” Mr Young said.
