Police are investigating after a 10-year-old girl reported being approached by a man in the Chantry area of Ipswich.

The incident happened in Downing Close between 8.30am and 8.40am on Thursday, March 16 when the girl had been climbing the off-road concrete stairs.

The man is reported to have approached her and tried to encourage her to go with him.

The girl said she felt uncomfortable about the situation and ran upstairs. When she looked back she reported that the man was running in the opposite direction.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: “There may be an innocent explanation for this but police need to trace the man and are urging him, or anyone who knows who he is, to come forward.”
