Mother, 29, and daughter, 5, treated by ambulance crew at scene of A137 crash, near Ipswich

The A137 was closed while emergency services dealt with a crash between a car and a van at the junction with The Street, near Wherstead, this morning.

Fire and rescue, police and the ambulance service were sent to the scene after the crash, which happened at around 9.20am.

Rebeccah Clarke, 29, and her daughter Jessica, five, who were in a Volkswagen Beetle, were both treated at the scene by ambulance crews and discharged.

There were no other injuries reported.

The fire service were initially sent to reports someone may have been trapped, and the van was said to be smoking.

However, on arrival the ambulance service was able to establish no one was trapped.

The A137 was completely closed in both directions, causing delays and hold-ups in the area. The A14 was also affected by the congestion.

The incident was clear by around noon.
