INVESTIGATIONS are continuing in to what caused a young pilot to be catapulted from the cockpit of his glider as it crashed on approach to a runway near Sudbury.
The 20-year-old solo pilot is being treated in Colchester Hospital. The incident left fellow flying enthusiasts at Wormingford Airfield stunned as they watched the Vega single-seater go down in nearby cornfield at 1.45pm yesterday.
The pilot has not been named but is believed to be local and an experienced solo glider pilot.
