TEAMS involved in St Elizabeth Hospice's first ever Great Xscape event are gearing up for the challenge this weekend.

A team of hospice staff, who work on the in-patient unit, are taking part in the event, which will see them being blindfolded, driven to a secret location and then navigate their way back.

In total 16 teams have signed up to raise money for the charity on Saturday, including Hays, Haven Power and Orwell High School. It starts from the banks of the River Deben by the Maybush Inn in Waldringfield.

Rachael Mittell, community fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “The Great Xscape is a good chance to support your local hospice while at the same time doing something fun with your friends or work colleagues and really challenging yourself.

“Teams are not allowed any help from friends and family and will be without money, mobile phones, navigational equipment or even a map so a good sense of direction will certainly help.

“There will be a prize awarded to the team who make it back in the quickest time and for those who wish to take the challenge a step further, there will be a prize for the best fancy dress.”
