A FASHION show for women who want to look good in the garden - not just while relaxing, but actually tending the borders - is to be staged in Felixstowe.

The boutique evening, which will raise money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity, is being sponsored by the Port of Felixstowe.

It will star reality TV Tycoon series runners up Cathy Cauldwell-Todd and Helen James who have launched Girlie Gardening and Sod the Garden companies, designing gardening fashion clothes for women and casual outdoor wear for families.

Ms Cauldwell-Todd said they were excited about attending the event at the Hotel Elizabeth Orwell on October 8.

“We are keen to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer and we recognize and value the marvellous work carried out by charities such as this. It is with pleasure that we are attending to promote both of our businesses and we are sure this event will be very productive,” she said.

During their visit, the couple are also seeking to recruit a team leader who could manage up to 20 Girlie Gardening agents with support from the team based in Skipton.

“Also, we would love to retail our Sod the Garden leisure wear range into independent shops and garden centres in the Suffolk area and a meet and greet event is being set up for local businesses to meet the Girlie Gardeners and view their product line, which includes a range for men and children,” added Ms Cauldwell-Todd.

The boutique evening will also include demonstrations and fashion shows, with Deborah Cash and Caroline Fish from Suffolk County Council's waste management team supplying advice on how to reduce, reuse and recycle unwanted clothes and textiles.

There will also be a green fashion show, and displays by The Jewellery Box, Dress Sense, Holly Blue, and Hardwear Boutique.

Tickets for the event are £6, available from the Hotel Elizabeth Orwell, 01394 285511; The Jewellery Box, Orwell Road Felixstowe; Dress Sense Tacket Street, Ipswich; or Holly Blue, The Thoroughfare, Woodbridge; or the Charraise box office on 01473 723409.
