SUFFOLK-based brewing giant Greene King is to close the Hardys and Hansons brewery it bought last month and transfer production to its own brewery in Bury St Edmunds.
Greene King bought the East Midlands company, based in Kimberley near Nottingham, along with its 250 pubs in September.
Today's announcement will mean the loss of 80 of Hardys and Hansons' 2,000 jobs.
