BURY brewer Greene King has today denied rumours that it is "restructuring" or "downsizing" the company.

It had been understood that staff in at least one of the departments had been called to a meeting and given letters explaining that changes would be made at the end of next month.

But a spokeswoman for the company denied any changes to structure or staffing levels and gave assurances that it was in a healthy financial position.

She also denied any knowledge of a staff meeting held on February 11 where any notification would have taken place.

"Greene King is in a sound financial position and there is no question that restructuring or downsizing planned for next month.

"The company is doing very well," she added.

Greene King shares at the close of yesterday were down 4 points to 643.5 and were in keeping with the trend in the Stock Market's leisure sector.
