Guides celebrate 75th birthday

GUIDES have celebrated their group's 75th birthday in Stowmarket with a special anniversary event.The 1st Stowmarket guides marked their anniversary with an evening attended by more than 40 past and present girls and the organisation's leaders.

GUIDES have celebrated their group's 75th birthday in Stowmarket with a special anniversary event.

The 1st Stowmarket guides marked their anniversary with an evening attended by more than 40 past and present girls and the organisation's leaders.

The event, which included old pictures on display, refreshments, raffle and a page for writing memories of their experiences, was held at the organisation's hall just off the town centre on this week.

Clare Robinson, an assistant leader who helps run the group with a number of others, said: “It was a very friendly, warm event to celebrate our 75th birthday, which was at the end of January.

“The girls get a lot from the group, which caters for ten to 14-year-olds, make friends, and learn about team work.”
