SHE only entered the competition as a joke - but a Suffolk hairdresser could now be judged to have the world's best bottom.

Jay Groves, 19, from Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, is in the final of the UK competition and has the chance to star in a global advertising campaign if she beats other finalists tomorrow. She will also go on to the contest to find the best female and male posteriors in the world.

She was chosen as one of the 10 UK finalists from hundreds of hopefuls who posted their pictures for online voting on the website of underwear firm Sloggi.

They will be showing off their best assets to an authoritative panel of judges at the Café de Paris in London's Leicester Square.

Miss Groves revealed she entered the competition because of a bet with her boyfriend Phillip Yelland, a car salesman from Rendlesham.

“I only entered as a laugh, my boyfriend bet me, and I never ever thought about winning, or even getting this far.

“I am really shocked and never thought any more of it once I entered. I love my job so much but if I did win, I would consider a modelling career.

“I am quite excited about going to London, although more because I can do some shopping while I am there.”

The task of rating the UK's best bottom falls upon experts from the world of fitness and fashion including a top UK psychologist famous for devising a formula for the perfect rear, and Olympic champion Linford Christie.

Their judging criteria will take in overall symmetry, touch firmness and skin texture. Miss Groves puts her shapely behind down to an early love of gymnastics and lots of running around in her busy life as a hairdresser.

The lucky male and female winners will be presented with a motor scooter and will be flown to Paris next month for an international showdown on November 12, with contestants from 32 countries across the globe.

The final winners will also have their beautiful behinds insured, star in a global advertising campaign for Sloggi undies, and pocket a 15,000 Euro prize each.
