HEALTH secretary Patricia Hewitt is to be forced to intervene in Suffolk's health crisis after councillors made a decision to refer hospital closures to her.
Suffolk's health scrutiny committee voted to refer the Suffolk East Primary Care Trust's decision to close community hospitals in Felixstowe and Hartismere to the Secretary of State.
The decision means none of the proposals can proceed until Ms Hewitt has looked over them.
