Well be prepared because things are set to get even hotter.

Suffolk is already basking in temperatures in the early 80sF but these are predicted to rise even further with thermometers likely to peak at 90F (32C) over the next few days.

This is good news for everyone with plans for the weekend because it has all the hallmarks of being a belter.

It's going to be a time for donning sunglasses, dusting down barbecues and slapping on the sunscreen to enjoy the heatwave in style.

And it's been perfect weather for the judges of the annual Felixstowe in Bloom competition were due to be out and about today looking at the colourful delights grown, pruned and cared for by the town's dedicated green-fingered faithful.

Today's temperatures looked set to reach about 84F (29C) and tomorrow could go one better with the mercury hitting 90F.

But Evening Star weatherman Ken Blowers has added a hint of warning to his weather forecast.

He said: "There is a very hot air stream coming up from the south however as the temperature goes up day by day, there's an increasing risk of thunder storms.

"It means, as always, some people will get them while some people will get glorious sunshine. They will only affect certain places."

"It's going to get hotter and hotter though," he added, saying the current mini heatwave could be warmer than that enjoyed at the end of July when temperatures peaked at 87F (31C).
