ARE you struggling with your weight?

Ipswich Hospital is planning to run a series of hour-long sessions about obesity to help anyone who wants get to grips with the problem and control it long term.

The four sessions will be held by community dieticians at the hospital, on a weekday evening for four consecutive weeks starting from mid April.

The series will be repeated again in June, September and November.

Issues covered include:

Why we are becoming more overweight as a nation

Trying to balance our intake with our bodies' individual needs

Working out how to re-organise our lifestyles to include more activity and less food.

How to gather support from friends and family, set targets and make permanent changes and then reward ourselves for our achievements.

Angela Street, from the department of nutrition and dietetics is hoping that about 30 people will sign up for each block of sessions.

She said: "No-one will be expected to lose weight during the four-week course, but we hope that people will go away with the confidence to set about making the necessary changes to their diet and lifestyle."

Anyone interested in finding out more is asked to send their name, address and telephone details (and an A5 stamped addressed envelope) to: Mrs A Street, Dept of Nutrition and Dietetics, Ipswich Hospital, Heath Road, Ipswich IP4 5PD.

There will be a booking fee of £5 to cover costs.
