IPSWICH Borough Council's Park Rangers need your help to build 40 new bird and bat boxes for Orwell Country Park.

The event is voluntary and the Rangers will provide all you need.

Alastair Chapman, Orwell Country Park Officer said: "We want to try to get all the boxes made and put up in the one day, ready for the spring and the nesting season.

"We have more than 100 boxes in the park which are checked and maintained by local volunteers. Every year we try and replace the ones that are getting old or have fallen down."

The Rangers will be in Bridge Wood near the picnic area from 11am on the day. It will take about 30 minutes to build a box and it is an ideal way to start or finish a walk in the Country Park. The Rangers advise people to wear warm clothes and waterproofs. For further information please contact the council's Ranger Service on 01473 433993.
